Archive for February, 2008

Here is a quick summary with my personal thoughts.  I’ve included the links to the official Oscars page to speeches and videos.

I left out a lot of categories so please forgive me.

Actor in a Supporting Role

Javier Bardem

No Country for Old Men

Oscars Link

My Thoughts:

I also liked Casey Affleck performance but I’m happy with this decision.  I honestly didn’t think Javier’s acting was all that great but I guess that’s just me.

Visual Effects

The Golden Compass.

Oscars Link

My Thoughts:

I don’t want to down play the Golden Compass but I seriously don’t think a little girl on a polar bear had better special effects than a HUGE ROBOT tearing apart a bus. Sorry this REALLY didn’t sit well with me.  I thought this should’ve won:

Actress in a supporting role

Tilda Swinton

Oscars Link

My Thoughts:

I actually didn’t see Michael Clayton yet so I can’t really say much. I thought Cate Blanchett would win but I GUESS NOT.

Best Actor

Daniel Day-Lewis

There will be Blood

Oscars Link

My Thoughts:

If you saw the movie than you know this was a no brainer…the other actors did awesome jobs but I was really blown away from by Daniel’s performance.  Some scenes in the movie are JUST awesome.

Best Actress

Marion Cotillard

La Vie EN Rose

Oscars Link

My Thoughts:

I actually did not see La Vie En Rose so I don’t have much to say.

She was extremely cute though.

Writing (Original Screenplay)

Oscar Link

My Thoughts:

I really wanted JUNO to win… and it did!! It was a great feel good movie and I am glad Diablo Cody won. She has an awesome tattoo on her arm…

That’s an awesome TATOO!

Best Picture

No Country for Old Men

Oscars Link

My Thoughts:

Old Country for No Men was a good movie but I really thought "There Will Be Blood" would win.  Anyone else agree??

Beginners Guide to Free Games (Part 1 Nintendo DS)

A co-worker of mine keeps complaining that her kid’s games are “too damn expensive”.

I agree.

Rock Band costs $160, Guitar Hero 3 costs $90 and any average game for a console costs $60. Games really are too damn expensive. Her son plays Nintendo DS, so I figure I teach her a way that she can save a LOT of money on DS games. Before we begin let me state that I’m not an advocator of pirated goods. Please purchase your games!!

Anyways moving on,

For NINTENDO DS games the clear solution is the R4 Chip.

This chip is hands down the BEST NDS investment you can make.

You can download virtually any Nintendo DS game into the chip and then run it on your Nintendo DS. The chip contains a small slot for a SD memory card (which holds the games). The R4DS cartridge and 1 GB Sandisk will cost you about $80 but you will instantly make your money back after you download 2 or 3 games.

There are a lot of sites where you can download EVERY single DS game every made.

Here is one I recommend:

After writing this little entry I found this Youtube video describing the installation process. Berry nice!

I hope this helps. Stay Tuned maybe I’ll write about free Xbox 360 games or something.

Interstella 5555 is a feature-length anime musical film released on 12/1/2003. The movie is a collaborative project between Daft Punk, Toei Animation and Leiji Matsumoto. Daft Punk provided the music and Matsumoto/Toei provided the animation/direction of the movie.

Each track from the Daft Punk album, Discovery, has been animated as an episode in the story of the abduction and rescue of an interstellar pop band. You might remember that MTV/Cartoon Network aired the first four episodes back in 2001.

Here is the first episode:
