Ok, so when I first saw the SF4 trailer I told myself that I would NOT get all excited and that I would absolutely NOT buy into all the hype. Despite being blown away by the new “Okamish” art direction I maintained my composure and moved on with life.

I’ve been pretty good since the debut trailer. Whenever my friends told me about new video clips or special characters I shrugged it off and maintained my apathetic views. Then 1UP previewed the game on their podcast and a small voice in my head told me that SF4 might be the real deal…(btw I’m very QQ about EGM/1UP Show being shutdown). 1UP show was one of the rare podcasts I actually watched. Sigh, sorry I digress.

good-bye 1up, I will miss you.

My friend Nacho linked me these super cool Joysticks for the 360/PS3, and a small voice in my head kept urging me to listen to all the hype.

It was at this point where I decided that I had to try it out myself. I’ve heard that NYC Chinatown had SF4 in its Chinatown Fair arcade, so it was time to see what if SF4 was the real deal.

I haven’t been to an arcade in a really long time (A couple of years? I forget). I went with 2 good friends of mine, Nacho & LFR. Once I saw the SF4 machines it all came back to me. SF4 had a pretty sizable crowd around it as local pros relentless owned the lesser gamers, Nacho included.

After trying out Akuma for a single battle, I instantly fell in love with the game. All of the hype and news surround the game IS indeed quite true. The game feels just like the old school Street Fighter 2 and it looks absolutely amazing. I had to take a moment just to appreciate how good it really looked. The controls are very responsive and it completely brought me back to the good ol days when Street Fighter 2 ruled our lives.  The super specials are amazing and the sound is GREAT.

I can honestly say without a doubt in my mind that SF4 is a step in the right direction and the long wait was worth it. The game is coming out on 2/17. wriXeL is contemplating hosting an online tournament so if you are interested please let us know.

On a slightly different note, I’ve also been following the development of the new Street Fighter Movie. Here is the most recent trailer.

To be honest I’m not really impressed with the trailer but…hell you can’t win em all.
